Clark is a Zen Buddhist chaplain. He has taken tokudo ordination vows, which means he practices in the contemplative tradition and serves as a novice priest. Clark practices with the Bread Loaf Mountain Zen Community (Middlebury, VT) in the North American Zen lineage passing through Taizan Maezumi, Bernie Glassman, Joan Halifax, and Joshin Byrnes. He is a member of the Soto Zen Buddhist Association.

At home in Massachusetts, Clark offers occasional practice opportunities through Beach Plum Zen, serves as a chaplain at the Dukes County Jail, and is the liaison between the jail and the Island Clergy Association.

Clark received his BA in Philosophy and Religion from Lycoming College, performed graduate studies at Wesley Theological Seminary, and received a graduate certificate in Conflict Resolution and Mediation from Columbia University. He is also a graduate of the Buddhist Chaplaincy Training Program at Upaya Zen Center. Clark previously worked as a conflict mediator, and he occasionally writes on nonviolence and the inner life.
